Zoom Workplace brings AI assistance across meetings, chat, Phone

Zoom has made a major move to integrate artificial intelligence throughout its platform with the launch of Zoom Workplace and new AI Companion expansions. The company aims to reimagine teamwork and provide an all-in-one AI-driven solution for modern work.

At the core is Zoom Workplace, Zoom’s new AI-powered open collaboration platform. It delivers innovations to facilitate better connections, improve productivity, and optimise flexible work experiences. A key part is elevated AI capabilities via expansions to the existing AI Companion across meetings, chat, phone systems and more.

One major new feature is Ask AI Companion, which allows users to interact with the AI assistant across Zoom’s apps. It can gather information, generate summaries, prep for meetings, and pull in data from integrated third-party tools. The AI can also draft agendas, recap discussions, and surface relevant emails, chats and documents.

Zoom Phone receives AI boosts as well. After calls, it can automatically summarise next steps so users can focus on the conversation instead of note-taking. It will also prioritise urgent voicemails and extract key tasks from voicemail transcripts. For team messaging, AI can now suggest meeting times based on chat discussions.

Other AI-powered capabilities include flowchart and mind map generation in Zoom Whiteboard, smart meeting layouts that highlight active speakers, and virtual background creation using text prompts.

Beyond AI, Zoom Workplace introduces a refreshed user experience with customisable color themes and virtual backgrounds. A new Meetings tab centralises agendas, recordings, files and chat. Continuous chat allows discussions to persist outside of meetings. Multi-share enables multiple participants to share their screens simultaneously.

The platform remains open and integrates with over 2,500 apps. It introduces new organisation tools like Team Chat tabs to consolidate channel assets. Workflow automation allows codeless configuration ofChat-based processes.

For office environments, Zoom adds visitor management, workspace reservations with wayfinding, and room enhancements like smart name tags and expanded display support.

On the customer experience front, Zoom is enhancing its Contact Center solution with real-time agent assistance tools powered by AI Companion. This includes live sentiment analysis, transcripts, conversation summaries, and intelligent knowledge base suggestions – all surfaced in a supervisor dashboard.

The Contact Center is also expanding digital channels like WhatsApp and email, enabling custom app integrations, and improving data residency controls. And lastly, Zoom’s Revenue Accelerator adds AI-generated deal memos and scoring for sales conversations.

Zoom says that these new products and features are expected to roll out over April and May. Some of these features also be regional.
