Humane’s Ai Pin is the ultimate smartphone killer: 9 incredible features

The much-awaited Humane Ai Pin will begin shipping by the end of March. The founders of Humane, Imran Chaudhri, and Bethany Bongiorno, shared an extended video of the revolutionary wearable computer showcasing some of its stellar features and capabilities. Initially announced in July 2023, the device emerged as a head-turner with its radical design and futuristic capabilities.

In the video, the company announced that priority orders will start arriving on April 11. In the video shot on March 17, Bongiorno is heard saying that if anyone buys the Ai Pin today, it will arrive in early May.

The Ai Pin is a small device that can be clipped on clothes or accessories. The AI-powered device uses a combination of voice, gesture, and touch inputs. The prominent features include web search, navigation, translation, phone calls, and sending and receiving text messages. However, the most striking feature of the device is its projection system that displays information onto the palm of the user, eliminating the need for a screen.

“AI Pin is the first multimodal device that’s wearable and easy to use. It’s also incredibly personal, which means the more I tell my pin over time the better assistant it will be to me. And it also does this without having to download or manage an application, which allows me to stay present in the moment and in flow,” Bongiorno said.

Based on the latest video from Humane AI, we explore some of the key features of the cutting-edge Ai Pin.

Info on the palm: With Dynamic UI, the AI Pin dynamically generates layout user interfaces optimised for the type of information being presented (e.g. stock prices, sports scores, flight status).

Calling and messaging: The tiny device allows users to take hands-free calls and send texts. Users simply need to dictate messages or voice commands to send and make calls.

Camera and media playback: Users can take photos, record videos, and control music playback using voice commands to AI Pin. Clicking pictures and videos is made possible through finger taps on the device.

Note-taking and reminders: Ai Pin can come in handy to recall things like schedules, lists, notes, and preferences. The device is capable of providing personalised recommendations based on the stored information.

Web search: Based on the demo, the video seems to be a convenient means for web search and looking for information. The Ai Pin is capable of looking up information, summarising the same, and offering it in the form of easily consumable chunks.

Translate on the go: Ai Pin supports around 50 languages allowing users to enjoy real-time translation during conversations.

As a productivity tool: In the demo, Chaudhri showed how Ai Pin can work alongside other apps and software, such as After Effects offering information and guidance while the user is working. Besides, it also works with laptops.

Image recognition: Chaudhri also introduced the Vision feature that allows Ai Pin to analyse images and objects and offer information on their make, type, and origin. The demo also showed how the pin can be used as a nutrition tracker tool.

Notification management: The device can summarise notifications from various apps and services, allowing users to instantly check them without the need for individual apps.

The demo also gave a glimpse of what to expect in the near future. The company will soon integrate Google Calendar and this will allow the device to offer schedule information and details of meetings with the help of voice commands.
